I create life size oil paintings of the body in wilderness. Currently my work uses color, intuition, and gestural strokes as a direct interpretation of my experience backpacking through wilderness by myself. The paintings show how structure of time and spatial relationships flatten and expand when traveling. The physical presence and detail of my paintings are influenced by my career as a collected ceramicist. The aim of my paintings is to entice the viewer with work that is as once direct and beautiful, disturbing and quiet.
